Winnie Kaburu who was Joseph Ole Kiyapi’s presidential running mate has been left homeless after hired goons vandalized her house in Westlands.

In what pointed to land ownership tussle Kaburu claims some people keen to take over the property are behind the break in.

Two children who were in the house at the time were injured and were rushed to hospital where they are reportedly receiving treatment.

Kaburu claims she bought the property from an Asian and has since paid 27 million shillings.

Kabura who has been occupying the said property for over five years says she has not had any issues with the owner who has been unwell for a while.

However, she says a lady who claims to hold the power of attorney of the property wants her kicked out.

But Meryline Wanjiru the lady being accused of being behind the vandalism has suffered with  a catalogue of documents to dispute claims by Kaburu.

Wanjiku says Kaburu has forged documents and wants to take over the property from an Asian man by using deceit.

According to Wanjiku, Kaburu was given notice in July this year to vacate the property after defaulting payment but since then she has remained defiant.

She claims it was unfair for Kaburu to try and snatch the property from the owner wondering when she paid the 17 million shillings she claims.

Nairobi senator Mike Sonko who visited the property condemned the act calling on police to apprehend those behind the vandalism which left Kaburus’ watchman and two daughters hospitalized from injuries sustained from the goons.

Lately, there has been rising cases of cartels going round demolishing properties they claim to have acquired following the expiry of the leases.

Early this month, a family of Asian origin was left in the cold after their home in Westlands was destroyed in an alleged land dispute.

About 30 unknown men armed with pangas and rungus evicted and robbed the owners before a bulldozer flattened the house, a duplex shared by the families of two brothers.
