President Kenyatta announces Jubilee’s strategy for fair nominations

President Uhuru Kenyatta Monday revealed the strategy the Jubilee Party will use to ensure its nominations are free and fair.

The President announced that party officials at County levels will be swapped during nominations so that officials of one county will be deployed to oversee the nominations in another county.

President Kenyatta said the party will also request the support of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)to conduct credible nominations.

“When we say that we are standing for free and fair nominations we mean it,” said the President who spoke during a leader’s meeting in Maralal.

The President said no aspirant should feel disadvantaged because of those who  are managing county branches.

“County officials will be swapped during nominations to avoid bias. The officials in Samburu County could be sent to another county and the officials of Kwale can come and oversee the nominations here,” said the President.

The President made the revelations when he addressed Samburu leaders inside the Samburu County Assembly.

President Kenyatta also asked rivals for the same position in counties to tone down their differences.

“We have no preferred candidates. The people’s choice will be our choice,” said the President who later addressed a large rally inside the town.

The President, who was in the County to sensitise Kenyans to register as voters, asked the residents to turn out in large numbers for the registration.

He asked the youth to ensure they are registered so that they can vote for the right leaders to guide the economy of the county.

“Majority of those without voters cards are the youth who are also the most vibrant campaigners but if they have no voting cards how will they help the candidates they are supporting,” said the President.

The President said the process of acquiring IDs will be made easier so that those of the legal age acquire the documents in time to register as voters.

The Head of State also cautioned the youth against being incited to violence by politicians during the campaign season.

“The politicians incite you to fight and you end up in hospital but the politicians will in the evening meet while you suffer alone,” said the President.

The President later visited Doldol where he urged residents to turn out in large numbers to secure their future.

The President emphasized that the area had seen tremendous development in the last four years even though they did not vote for him.

He said this demonstrates  that his Government’s policy has been to serve all regions in equal measure.
