NOCK passes new constitution

By Frederick Muoki

National Olympic committee of Kenya (NOCK) today passed its reviewed constitution after committee members and affiliate agreed on outstanding issues that had stalled the passage of the document on two previous attempts.

Barely two weeks after NOCK and affiliate failed to pass the reviewed constitution and a possible ban from International Olympic Committee (IOC) looming, finally NOCK Executive committee members and affiliate passed the document after 18 delegates plus 11 National Executive Members of the committee unanimously voted in favor of the new constitution.

The adoption of this constitution has paved way for fresh NOCK elections which will now be held on 5th May this year.

This new constitution has stripped the Executive Committee members of the right to vote unlike the past where they cast their votes.

NOCK is expected to name an independent body that will oversee its elections in one week’s time.
