Former Sofa Paka Congolese striker Rashid Benjamin Asumani has been cleared to play for Modern Coast Rangers in the National Super League.

Club Secretary Ferdinand Ogot revealed the players has been met the eligibility criteria to play after the United National Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed his status.

‘’The UNHCR have confirmed Rashid Benjamin Asumani as a refugee and therefore he meets the requisite eligibility criteria to play in the league’’ said Ogot

Football Kenya Federation had initially advised Rangers against fielding the player until he gets clearance from the UNHRC.

Rashid Benjamin missed missed Rangers first match against Zoo Kericho that was played last weekend at KPA Mbaraki.

After getting the clearance he made his debut appearance for Rangers during the second match played against KCB on Wednesday 23/3/2016 at Camp Toyoyo in Nairobi in which he scored one of the clubs two goals during the 2-3 defeat.

According to sources close to Sofa Paka, Rashid Benjamin has a five year contract with the club and was loaned to Modern Coast Rangers for six months

Football Kenya Federation league rules require all foreign players to be in possession of a work permit unless they are registered refugees.
