NTSA conducts a crackdown along Voi-Mombasa highway

National transport and safety Authority (NTSA) officials have carried out an operation along Voi-Mombasa highway to check whether motorists were observing the traffics laws.

Passengers including tourists were stranded for more than 30 minutes after the drivers of their vehicles were arrested due to drunkenness or lack proper documentation.

Tourists who were traveling in a matatu to Mombasa were forced to wait in their vehicle until another driver was sourced to complete the remaining journey after their driver was detained for drunkenness.

The NTSA Director of Safety Enforcement and Accidents Investigation Colonel Hared Adan says that fatal accidents during the festive seasons have decreased due to monitoring of drivers by NTSA officers.

Adan said the authority wishes to urge and remind all drivers to be responsible and extra careful during this festive month.
